A new concept in robotic packaging
CORIOM represents a new concept in robotic packaging, where machine vision does not simply control product position and alignment, but acts as the core element of the entire process.
The system acquires and analyses each individual unit in real time, performing checks on integrity, shape, size, colour, surface appearance, presence and validity of expiration dates, as well as other relevant parameters.
Based on the acquired information, CORIOM determines product compliance and guides the actions of the delta robots during picking, orientation and case-packing operations.
Handling and quality control are therefore managed by a single system, reducing mechanical adjustments and increasing the machine’s ability to adapt to product variability.
Vision Neural Core – VNC
The Vision Neural Core – VNC system is the technological heart of CORIOM.
Machine vision does not simply provide the robots with the coordinates required for picking operations synchronised with the conveyor. It actively determines the product flow within the process and how each product must be handled.
The system can perform multiple in-line inspections:
Shape recognition
Size recognition
Colour recognition
Texture recognition – NIR Vision
OCR recognition
Barcode recognition
Graphic comparison on bags
Missing parts recognition
CORIOM uses line-scan cameras, which are particularly suitable for applications involving reflective surfaces or variations in ambient lighting.
Seamless integration with SCADA and MES systems also enables full product traceability and continuous production process monitoring.
High-performance delta robots
CORIOM integrates delta robots with a working diameter of 1,200 mm and a payload capacity at the wrist of up to 15 kg, including the gripping system.
The carbon-fibre structure and Bosch Rexroth brushless motors combine structural lightness, rigidity and high dynamic performance. The system can reach up to 80 cycles per minute per robot and up to 160 cycles per minute in the dual-robot configuration.
Active Grip Control system – AGC
The Active Grip Control – AGC system is designed according to the application, product characteristics and operating conditions.
The format, surface and gripping method are optimised to ensure precise and reliable handling, even when processing different products or delicate packages.
Modularity and hygienic design
CORIOM is a modular and configurable system manufactured using materials suitable for food-processing environments.
Its stainless-steel structure and hygienic design make the machine suitable for handling loose products and for installation in environments characterised by low temperatures or high humidity.
IP67 protection allows the machine to be washed and facilitates cleaning operations, helping maintain high hygiene standards.
CORIOM can handle products weighing up to 10 kg and is suitable for packaging pouches, bags, boxes, trays, bakery products, meat, fish and many other products from the food industry.
